Opening Reception
Friday, March 26 from 6 – 9pm

Michael Clifton and Michael Benevento are pleased to announce the opening of Clifton Benevento, a new gallery located in the Soho neighborhood of New York.

For its inaugural presentation the gallery has invited the itinerant exhibition team, Apartment Show, to organize the ensemble show “Big Apple”. In a little over a year the Apartment Show organizers, artists Denise Kupferschmidt and Joshua Smith, have programmed more than 15 exhibitions and events with artist peers in spaces throughout New York City. Typically on view for no more than one or two nights, most projects were staged in Brooklyn apartments in addition to one-off events at Printed Matter, PS1 and Artists Space. In keeping with this spirit, for a period of two weeks, the Apartment Show’s “Big Apple” aids in transitioning a live/work space at 515 Broadway into the commercial gallery Clifton Benevento.

“Big Apple” unites many of the artists associated with Apartment Show since it’s inception. No overlapping thematic pattern informs the exhibition except for the artists’ proximity to one another socially. Most are friends by virtue of the fact that they reside and work in New York City and to this end, “Big Apple” is an eclectic snapshot of art created among peers living in New York.

Participating artists include: Gina Beavers, Phillip Birch, Colby Bird, Patrick Brennan, Brian Clifton, Bridget Finn, Amanda B. Friedman, Elizabeth Hirsch, Josh Kline, Joshua Kolbo, Denise Kupferschmidt, Christina Leung, Eddie Martinez, Jeanette Mundt, Sam Moyer, Jeffrey Porterfield, Josh Slater, Benjamin Sisto, Joshua Smith, Jeffrey Tranchell and Ned Vena.

The opening reception is B.Y.O.B.
